Happy Independence Day
Today – our nation’s Independence Day – is the day we celebrate our freedom. Take time to reflect on all in your life that you are thankful for and all the freedom’s that you have. Also, be thankful for all that you and others have done to achieve and maintain this freedom.
Take advantage of the holiday by taking the day a step further to see what other freedoms you may be looking to achieve. What are you striving for? Is there something you could start doing today to achieve that freedom?
Since this blog is about success in business and life and so much of it is based on loving your work, living life with passionate energy, giving back to the world and achieving financial freedom, what better day than now to celebrate the freedom that you have achieved or will soon achieve? There are several types of freedom that people seek to find from their career endeavors. Is it freedom of location you seek? This would allow you to work from home or work from anywhere in the world. Or, is it financial freedom?
So, what is this idea of financial freedom? This term was made popular in Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad, Poor Dad series. Financial freedom is achieved when one’s passive income exceeds expenses. Passive income is simply income that comes without spending any time working on it – often the residual revenue from owning assets (businesses or real estate).
When this is accomplished, it allows time to be spent doing what you love – traveling the world or giving back to others – or it could be spent on doing work that you love.
The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich by Tim Ferriss provides great insight and real world resources related to both the business success and then enjoying international travel.
If this is not your goal, then maybe it’s to feel like you’ve achieved freedom by doing a job that you love that does not feel like work. It’s one where you feel like you are making a difference, living your purpose and doing your job better than most anyone in the world can do it.
So many people hate their jobs, but this is what they spend most of their days doing. You don’t have to hate what you do. Actually, you should love it and the more you love it, quite often the more income you will bring in. Therefore, today we can celebrate a Happy Independence Day by either celebrating the freedom that we have or committing to take the step to achieve that goal.
