Patrick, thanks for telling me about this book over the holidays. I have only just begun reading the 4-Hour Work Week, but it has already changed the way I think more than anything I’ve ever read. In so many ways, I feel like Tim was describing me in the first part of the book. Working at jobs I don’t enjoy to save money for once a year vacations and a reitrement in the distant future. The good thing is I think I’ve always been good at working efficiently when I work, but just haven’t been good at using my extra time to live the life that my wife and I have always wanted. That changes in 2010. In fact, the change has already started and it is an amazing feeling.

Nice! Tim Ferris leaving a comment on your blog. Gotta say, never seen that before.

4HWW introduced me to many concepts which have changed the way I run my business. The outsourcing, I think, has had the greatest impact. Also, the book introduced me to the writings of AJ Jacobs. He wrote the “Outsourcing Life” section in the book. AJ is a great writer too and I had the opportunity to Q & A him recently and posted the interview on my blog. Never would’ve happened if it weren’t for the 4HWW.

Thanks for posting. Good way to start the decade.

Many people can relate to the stress of work/family life balance especially as people are setting goals and resolutions in the new year. How do you find even more surplus time in a day to work out and exercise or improve your job performance/increase sales in the office? How can you vow to spend more time with friends and family in 2010 without work time compromised? A radical change in your day-to-day office role might be the answer. Get out of the cube and really start living! Of course, this might not be possible for all types of professions, but if you are someone who is motivated and creative perhaps 2010 is the year to make it happen! Work more efficiently (work less even) and have more time for the things you most enjoy in life!
