Day 2 – Assessing

Welcome to Excursion # 2… Assessing!

Due to the work in your Focusing Excursion, you now have a very good idea of what drives you and who you are.  This knowledge can be incredibly powerful as you create your ideal life.  The foundation to creating a path in life is not simply looking outside at all the options the world has to offer, but to look inside oneself for natural areas of interest, motivation and needs.

Using the results of the focusing exercises along with the results of assessments can lead you toward the self-understanding needed to make important decisions.   You may have already taken career and personality assessments.

If you have already taken your assessments, Skip Lesson 1 and continue to Lesson 3.

Lesson 1:  Taking Your Career and Personality Assessments

As you know, this is a free course.  We are providing you with the best information available to help create the life you wish to live.  You do not have to pay for any assessments, but we provide the options that we feel are the best.

You want to be able to find a career personality assessment that meets your goals and budgets.  Over the years, we have researched and used various career personality tests.  We are often asked which we use and why.

If you are interested in a comparison of popular assessments, you can see:

Lesson 2:  Relate Results to Goals

Now is the time to record a few of the common themes from your assessment results and comment on how they relate to your short term and long term goals.  Think about the major accomplishments you plan to reach in the future.  Look back at the results from your Focusing Excursion showing how you want your life to look in 2 years, 5 years, etc.  What are the milestones on the way to get your life to look like this?  Now that you have learned your passions and what drives you in life, can you see how these will help you reach your goals?

Lesson 3:  Your Purpose in Life

This lesson is one of the most powerful lessons in any of our courses.  You can really take advantage of the opportunity in front of you and create the life you desire and the reason to live it the way that you want to live.

As we’ve said, take advantage of the knowledge that you have about yourself now and the resources that are available to you.  People often say, “If I had known then, what I know now,” and say what they would have done differently with their lives.  After this introspection, you have the ability to create the path you want and take advantage of the opportunities in front of you right now.
By this point, you have taken time to complete the Focusing Excursion and assessment.   You have before you the knowledge of what motivates you most, the areas you enjoy and the ways you gain the most pleasure in life.  You have been working on common themes in these results.  Do you see how they are coming together and helping define who you are as a person?

Have you ever felt like you had a calling?  A drive to do something special in your life?  Often when you are being called to do something, you see a glimpse or seem to imagine the way you would like to be.  Do you ever see this ideal you at some point in the future and you want to be that ideal you?

Have you had one of those moments when you feel like the universe is aligned in your favor, when everything is going right, you feel unstoppable, on top of the world like you truly could do anything you could think of and you will succeed?  While in this state, you see that ideal you or that something you want in your life.  You see it as being reality. You see that future picture in vivid detail, and the vision of the accomplished goal is so inspiring that it propels you to action.

Take the time now to review your results while they are fresh in your mind and write down how it comes together for you.  Why are you here on this earth?  What is your mission?  What is your purpose?  It can be a very simple short phrase or a paragraph.  Just let your passions flow and record why you are here.  What is your purpose in life?

All the best,

Patrick
